This is a lovely village pub in a nice location. I was glad to step inside from a passing thunderstorm early yesterday evening. The bar has a lovely traditional feeling. There are only 5 tables and a few families had been dining. I didn't set foot in the lounge. 4 ales were on. The regular is Greene King Abbot. They also had Courage Directors, Purity Ubu & Church End Fallen Angel. Finally after trawling around 10 Warwickshire pubs without finding any sign of a local beer, I'd not only found one, but two beers actually brewed in the county. I opted for the Fallen Angel, which was a bit hoppy for my tastebuds. But, this is certainly a pub that I would recommend. No sign of any real cider these days though....

One of the friendliest pubs I have ever visited !
This is a traditional place with two rooms, the larger set out for meals is nice enough, however the smaller room to the rear has more of a pub feel.
Their was a good selection of drinks on offer including a beer from Merimans on the 'locale' scheme as well as several real ciders to choose from.
The landlord, landlady and barmaid were all very friendly and really made our too short visit a pleasure .Along with the locals they chatted to us, and even ensured we got home after finding ourselves a few miles off track as closing time approached.
Good pub, great staff - the kind of pub we should all support to ensure they stay just that.

The Malt Shovel, Bubbenhall
I live in Birmingham and booked Sunday lunch for two at this pretty, olde worlde country pub whilst house sitting in the area. I had booked for 2pm. At 1.15pm my son telephoned me wanting to come over to join us for lunch with his girlfriend. Typical notice given by kids. I contacted the pub and spoke to a very welcoming helpful young lady asking if it were possible to re arrange the meal for 2.30pm and increase the numbers to 4 persons. It was no problem.
My wife and I duly arrived at the pub at 2pm and were greeted by a very friendly barmaid and waitress. We ordered drinks and sat and waited for the kids to arrive. The journey should only have taken them at the most 45 minutes. I noticed that the pub stopped serving food and closed at 3pm on Sundays. At 2.35pm the kids had still not arrived. The hosts were extremely understanding and told us not to worry which was very considerate considering the circumstances.
Eventually they kids arrived with 15 minutes to spare and we ordered our food. At no time were we put under any pressure. The meal was excellent and very reasonably priced. The real ales well kept and the puddings lovely.
I was surprised that the pub was not busier as it is set in a lovely village location with a nice beer garden, very hospitable staff and pleasant food. We will return.

Pleasant pub with good beer and excellent service. Food was a little mixed but generally good.

Traditional pub with a decent pint of Bass; a bit too quiet for a Sat afternoon though.
