user reviews of Rowan's, Chiswick

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This is quite a nice caf/bar giving a continental feel to the Kew Bridge end of the Chiswick High Road. I found the staff to be very pleasant and it was very relaxing on a nice sunny afternoon sitting in the small comfortable courtyard out the back. You can almost forget that youre drinking in a caf on a crappy parade of shops at the edge of Brentford. The street level section of the building is quite small and narrow as it accommodates the bar/food counter and the toilets, but there is also another larger area downstairs. This has its own separate bar and plenty of seating. The walls are mirrored and there are large speakers on the walls at one end where a dance floor can be mustered up very quickly.

There are signs up in the front window advertising the Sky Sports and Setanta, but I only spotted a small plasma screen in an awkward position in the downstairs bar.

The drinks are very unimaginative being Fosters, Kronenburg, John Smiths and Guinness, but this place never pretended to be designed for a CAMRA meet. It would be a good venue for a work party or maybe a birthday drink during the day and at less than 3 a pint it wont break the bank.

I've worked around the corner from here for many years and today was my first, but not my last visit.
