Love this pub - it's changed a lot in the last 5 or 6 years and is no longer the dodgy looking tiger striped place it used to be. Now a friendly, cosy boozer with lovely staff, great gigs and a good selection of spirits and drinks. I normally pop in for a couple of pints of Doombar on my way home and I've had the food here too, would recommend. They've also started a free comedy night on Sundays I've been meaning to check out.

The best pub in the area but it doesn't mean a huge amount as most of the other pubs are awful!

To be honest this is actually a decent pub, always a good pint of Tim Taylor's Landlord is available and the bar staff are excellent.

The inside looks nothing like the outside and I think the exterior can be very off putting.

Right opposite the station and definetly worth visiting for a pint if you have the time while in Whitechapel.

Don't let the outside put you off, it's actually quite lovely inside. Really friendly staff, decent selection of reasonably priced beers and spirits (cheaper than the Beggar, more expensive than the White Hart but thankfully without the racist football crowd). The food is cheap and tasty, there's a jukebox which is both a blessing and a burden (great when you're picking tunes, less so when it's on random and suddenly blasts out the Welsh national anthem or something). Great gigs on too, and open mic on Thursdays. Odd mix of punters, lots of hospital staff, students, foreign visitors, Whitechapel locals, random passersby. Nice though.

My my the decor is eyesore, but don't let that put you off. The lager is cheap (for London prices) and the service is with a smile. The atmosphere has a hint of mayhem when it gets busy. You can have fun in here. It's no frills.
