user reviews of Strawberry Moons, Mayfair

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Its all about location isn't it - if this place was in Croydon, it would be slammed down as trashy - end of the day, it isn't all that much different attitude really, and by previous reviews, its already had a slight slating. But its a 'posh bar' over the West End.
My visit was very enjoyable as it goes, it was a mates birthday, but he hadn't booked any area up, but we got there before 8pm so was free entry, managed to get a couple of rounds in from happy hour which was half price cocktails, got some outside sofa type seatings which suited our numbers (and for this time of year it wasn't too cold - I think the heaters from next door were helping the atmosphere somewhat), and if that wasn't enough our group got let into the VIP area downstairs (just another small room with another bar so quicker service is all really), and wondered in and out of there without any hassle.
Enjoyed myself and got merry, and before I knew it was 12ish and had to rush off to get the last tube home. So all in all I should give this place kudos, but it is what it is after all - a bar with fast drinks and loud music. My next visit could easily fall into a previous review category

I spent last Saturday night in here. It was absolutely heaving. It was a great crowd as well. I'm not a fan of pubs full of blokes in their late teens and early twenties because they are normally idiots when they're pissed, but this lot were really good. I think a lot of this is down to the choice of music by the DJ. He alternates between new stuff and cheesy eighties like Wham! which works really well and creates a party atmosphere. It's not the sort of music a little attitude shit could handle. The staff and doormen/women were really friendly and accommodating, what a change for a pub in the heart of London. If you're a young bloke and you can't pull in here, you might as well give up. There were loads of really lovely young women in there. If only I was 20 years younger!

I booked my wife's 30th here. We booked for 15 covers which appeared on the receipt. When we arrived there was seating for 6 people. Not wishing to make a fuss, I didn't complain. After about 30 minutes a couple more of my mates turned up so I went to get a couple of chairs. A very aggressive lady came across telling me to put the chairs back. An argument then commenced where I pointed out that our receipt said 15 covers and she said that might be true but they always emailed to say that only 6 seats would be provided. After a couple of minutes I gave up with the woman and asked that she calm down and we'd handle the lack of seating. 10 minutes later, the woman returned with a guy claiming to be the manager. The guy said that I'd insulted his staff and that I should leave. I tried to reason with the fellow but he was adamant that I'd been rude and I'd have to leave. After we received a refund we went over the road and had a great time in the Italian restaurant opposite. Under no circumstances book a party there. I am truly shocked by the atitude of this venue.

I was very surprised that this place wasnt suggested before as it is just off Regent Street and is quite popular. Before a couple of Friday's ago I dont think that I had ever entered here sober and I certainly hadnt been for 8 years.

The main floor of the pub has a bar running down one side of it and a limited amount of seating dotted around. There is a dance floor at the back of the pub and some covered seating outside by the entrance. There is a VIP room, next to the toilet downstairs, which used to be another dance floor.

There is plenty of lager to choose from, but not a lot else. If it is anything like it used to be in the evenings it will be rammed and the queue for the bar will be long.

This is not really my scene anymore, so I think that Ill leave it to the teeny boppers!
