user reviews of the Little Thatch, Quedgeley

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I paid a return visit to this lovely building yesterday. This time I was here on a Saturday when it was open, as opposed to a Sunday when it clearly closes. The interior matches the expectations of the exterior. But apart from the 2 bar staff, there was only one other small group of 3 or 4 in. So it felt a little dead. Exmoor Ale was the solitary real ale. It was in a reasonable condition. This place is not worth going out of your way for. But I'll upgrade my score to a 5, based on the impressive building and the fact that it does at least stock a real ale.

This place looked like a lovely building from the outside. But on a Sunday lunchtime, all doors were locked. One guy did come out baring his chest, with an unbuttoned shirt and asked if I wanted a room. But I got the feeling he was just a resident, as this is a hotel too. I later found out that it would open at 7pm. But I wasn't about to hang around. So 0/10 for a pub that doesn't open in what should be some of its peak hours.

A lovely old and mostly unspoilt building. Two real ales on sale. Strange old boy as the landlord. Refused to allow me to pay for a round of drink with a 50 note. He clained there are dud ones around although mine carried the watermark and silver line. Then he changed his reasons to "It would take all of my change". Very odd. Four rounds later and that would have used up most of the 50 note.

Couldn't fault the beer though.

Have to agree with the previous comments. The Little Thatch is a proper cosy little place that takes you back in time. Its the perfect place to enjoy a quiet pint. Not sure if the resturant is open that often. There is definitely serious potential about this place that the management don't realise. It's a very old place that was not so long ago a popular country haunt for Gloucester City folk (but is now in the heart of sprawling Quedgeley). If you are out this way go in this place and enjoy a pint.

Really nice local pub with real ale. No fruit machines, pool tables or jukebox making it the perfect place to go for a nice relaxing pint. It has a lovely beer garden where you can watch the world go by. It also does really gorgeous homemade food, me and my partner have had some really amazing meals there.
