A bit of a misnomer for anyone to say they visited this pub while 'in' Haltwhistle as it's a two mile mainly uphill walk from the town out at some bleak point on the moors. It is a pleasant place though with scenic views towards Hadrian's Wall. Just the two ales on Prince's Bishop and Sunny Daze. The Prince's Bishop was a decent pint and warranted a few more to quench the thirst.

We visited this pub while staying in HaltWhistle. It is in an advantaged location in sight of Hadrians Wall 1/2 mile to the North, and for beautiful sunsets to the West. The local ale was good and the menu extensive and compelling with all the hearty items for a cold day such as a selection of pies, steaks, haggis and other. The food is good but not as 'home made' as we experienced in the Black Bull in Haltwhistle. It does have the location though.

Surprised at the previous review. I found this to be a welcoming place in a very remote spot. It's a very cosy place and worth seeking out if staying nearby. Mind you it was very quiet when I visited so can't really comment on the service.

This pub is in sight of Hadrians Wall on the Military Road.Although not imposing from outside it is cosy inside. The real ale was a bit strange and the service whilsy prompt a bit lacking in welcome.
We were going to eat there that evening and the menu looked very good but after hearing the owner threaten to kick out some customers who had the temerity to complain obout their meal we decided to book elsewhere.
