I would suggest twohalves gives it another go... Seagrave is a very sleepy village and before the current owners took over i'm guessing this was a pub on the verge of closure. I find the atmosphere warm & welcoming, with nice touches such as the games and newspapers. Beer choice has been Jennings Cumberland ale & Wychwood Hobgoblin for a while now with Thatchers Gold Cider and various lagers. Let's face it, although there are only two ales there both pretty good... You just have to live with the old fashioned opening hours, which I actually like, although do agree they should open and serve food all day on Bank holidays and probably Saturdays... Foodwise this pub is also pretty good; All home cooked and some theme nights (Pie, Fish & chip etc...). The two meals for a tenner Tuesday is certainly recommended.

OK village pub on my visit. Jennings Cumberland and one other beer on. My pint of Cumberland was good, but not a great choice there.

Bank Holiday Monday and they stopped doing food at two. And the pub was closing at five. Not great customer service there. One of the few days everyone else is off work with money to spend on a glorious summer's day - and the pub shuts.

A solid five, but could do lots better.

Really good pub... Walked here over the fields from Barrow on Soar with the family a couple of weeks ago. Great food, great beer and good atmosphere. Warm welcome and children friendly too! I liked the idea of having traditional games like dominoes in a cupborad for the kids. There is also a deli now next to the pub.

.... and while I'm at it, how does it get a rating of 8.7 from three users when I'm one of them and I didn't give it a rating ???

Looks like I won the race to comment. 29 Aug - 16:44 - "opening very shortly". 29 Aug - 16:57 - "totally transformed , well worth a visit". Both Cheekypint and Smooveb have only ever commented on this pub. Nice try chaps !!! Say no more. Cynical ??? Moi ???
