user reviews of Old Waggon and Horses, Ismere

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Old Waggon & Horses is a Marstons pub on the main road between Stourbridge and Kidderminster. A few people were sat outside when we arrived and there were plenty of cars. But other than the two bar staff, there was nobody else indoors. The interior is fairly modern, but still cosy. I'm sure I've been here before many years ago. But I doubt I'd recognise it anymore. Ales were Marstons Pedigree, Banks's Lion Roar & Thwaites Magic Sponge, which actually had a real sponge on each pumpclip. It was a darker beer. But I wasn't too impressed by it. Ok, but nothing special.

Driven past many times but only popped in for the first time last night.

No other punters in at 9pm but the landlord made us welcome. Sat by the open fire and a couple of other drinkers came in, so there was some atmosphere.

Two real ales on - Banks Bitter (fine quality) and Hobgoblin.

Food offers and dining area looked really good - two mains and a bottle of wine for £20 on a thursday looked a bargain!

Hey Peterblack, don't knock the pub just because you got your order wrong and got a rollicking from your wife. Been there many times, had brilliant times. Staff & owners always courteous, well worth a visit. Had great review from the press & best of all no TV or blaring music. It's a pub with good food & friendly atmosphere.

Excellent pub, owners & staff very friendly & always make you welcome. Food is very good & fairly priced. Have been there several times & NEVER heard owners shout. Weekends is usually packed, therefore they must be doing something right!!! Well worth a visit.

terrible place owners are rude and arrogant, and if the bar staff get your drink wrong the owner will shout at you. Do not go there!!! It a shame they spoil it because it could be a nice little pub.
