Doom Bar, Black Sheep and Ringwood Best on the handles when I visited, my Doom Bar was in good condition. Luckily it wasn't particularly busy so a reasonable service was available. In school holidays previously it was so busy that I walked out as it was going to be a thirsty wait so it's worth bearing that in mind. Other people's food seemed OK, my sandwich with salad (could have had chips instead of the salad) was very good. A rambling sort of pub which has some very old parts with a flagstone floor. Large and popular pub in a good location on Southampton Common. Service, food and drink far too variable. Tonight, only one real ale on and refused service just before 10:30pm (Sunday night) with the disinterested member of staff on the bar saying they closed at 10:30, while a couple of weeks ago still served at 11pm on a Sunday. To make it worse a table of staff came back with drinks a couple of minutes after this. Sadly, they are all too often let down by their staff and 'variable schedule'. nikkers79 - 19 Sep 2010 22:56 |

Always friendly, always helpful, they do not mind children, great beer, good food and the only issue that stops me giving it 10/10 is the parking which is due to the location and popularity. Criticalgaz - 19 May 2009 09:14 |
Large Pub/Restaurant which although situated back from busy road is set in woodland with a large green common. Watchout for the cycleway as you enter the car park. Picturesque setting with old fashioned ,low ceilinged, beamed interior. T Taylors Landlord and Ringway Bitter were on pump.More choice would have made this place near perfect. Food menu looked reasonably priced. Well worth a visit on a sunny afternoon, but I think a lot of other people will have the same idea bee578 - 26 Apr 2009 09:28 |
