user reviews of the Lock Keeper, Worksop

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

this pub/diner has been closed for a few months.
now re-decorated and recently re-opened. still under the Marstons banner.
the 2-for-1 menu has been scrapped, in place of a carvery and more pricey menu.
so basically its dearer, but the meals are bigger and better.
they also now have 3 cask ales on instead of the one.
marstons pedigree, burton bitter and brackspear bitter.
***
verdict:
the place feels very smart after the re-furb.
should do well both over christmas, and also in summer, as it has outdoor seating by the canal-side, an enclosed childrens play area, and a large car park.
the carvery [6] was very enjoyable. plenty of meat [3 joints] and self-service veg.
unfortunately the cask ales weren't to my own particular liking.
a 7 from me.

currently jennings cimberland ale, at 2.45/pint.

table service.
waiters seem very on the ball.
nice place.
particularly in summer, with canal-side seating.

this is a "fairly" new marstons pub/restaurant, built by the side of a lock on the chesterfield canal.
it is a large establishment, with ample parking and easy access from the A57 worksop ring-road.
outdoors is canal-side seating, smoking area, childrens play area.
indoors is a large interior with multiple dining rooms and central bar.
the wide range of meals are offered on a permanent 2-for-1 pricing basis. making most of them reasonably priced.
usual range of drinks. Marstons pedigree on as cask.
We go here a lot, so it must good!
