called again last saturday evening.
no food and only one cask ale [deuchars].
the place was full, but this time with chav-like characters.
some quite drunk. there was also a noticeable increase in "rather young looking" 18 year olds.
then the kareoke arrived, things got a lot louder and the drunks decided they wanted to be pop stars.
***
verdict:
this has just about put me off completely now.
probably won't be calling again.
down to a 3 now from me.

revisited last saturday.
found the pub had changed management. in January.
apparently the lease is owned by a pub management group.
***
its still a smart pub, and now has a pool table and juke box. An attempt to cater more for the younger crowd.
No meals yet.
2 cask ales on. Tetley bitter as regular, and one guest.
courage directors was on for our visit. 2.60/pint.
Bombardier had just come off.
***
the place seems to be less busy on each visit.
a shame.
nice pub, nice beer.
down to a 6 from me, as the meals are now off.

re-visited recently.
it appears the tetley cask has now been dropped, and there are currently two rotating guest cask ales, chosen by his regulars.
***
one on during my visit was sharpes award winning "doom bar". It was by far the best pint of doom bar I've ever had. Both I and my companion were suitably impressed, so much so that we continued to partake until the cask was no more! nuff said!

this is a nice, quiet, frieldnly, clean & smart little pub tucked away in the sheffield suburb of woodhouse.
landlord is proud of his selection of cask ales.
In addition to the normal keg selections, he has tetley cask bitter, and normally two guest ales, which are always top quality.
meals on offer most days/eves, with "fresh fish" day on friday and special sunday lunch.
great place for a quiet pint.
always a pleasure to visit here.
