user reviews of Bullers Arms Hotel, Bude

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I had heard that this pub had been bought and closed by a developer who was then forced to maintain it as a pub. Its a great story and i hope that it continues to trade as a pub.
A free house with a good selection of local beers on tap. Friendly service with a fee harmless locals propping up the bar at lunchtime visit.
A very large pub with two main areas both with the bar extending into them, in other parts of the ground floor there is a separate room for dining and another larger room set out for training/conferences.
Interesting old photos on the walls and some stuffed animals on the walls ,(hunting was obviously big in this area years ago). All in all a pleasant pub to while away some time.

Our local for the weekend - we were staying just out the village.

Hopes were raised when we saw there was a beer festival advertised on the village approach. True enough, we were in luck and a whole room had been dedicated to 15 or so beers and several ciders - all at £2 a pint. It's funny how a single thing can make/break a holiday.

Good atmosphere in the pub and regulars made us welcome. Interesting story about the recent history - taken over by a businessman who wanted to convert it into flats - then sold back as a pub but without the large carpark which remains ringfenced off - priced at £720,000 and earmarked for more flats/retail units.

Sounds like a modern horror story on how the heart of a community can be pulled out by ruthless developers. Shouldn't be allowed.

I hope the place remains a success.

This pub closed in October 2012. Theree is a campaign to get it reopened, so good luck and i hope they succeed.

Good food, Good ales, Friendly staff & locals.
The Bullers is the archetypal Village Inn and we dined there on several evenings during our recent stay in St.Gennys, south of Bude. The Bullers is a large white building in the centre of the village and is very easy to find by visitors to the area. It has a good sized car park and a large garden with wooden picnic tables. Despite it being peak time in a very busy August the service was good, and the bar staff and waitresses were both friendly and efficient. Though your schedule when on holiday revolves around the weather, booking your table a day or two ahead is advisable. This is one of those places where we all felt comfortable from the moment we walked in. There were 5 Real Ales available, including Tribute, Abbot and Betty Stoggs, the latter was particularly tasty. There is a wide choice available on the menu and also a Specials Board. The pan-fried chicken breast in a mushroom and Madeira sauce was excellent. A selection of vegetables has to be ordered separately. The food prices were about average for "milking the tourists in Cornwall" this year, and good value due to the high quality of the food. Within a few minutes of our arrival on our first visit we were very politely asked by the locals whether we would
like to participate in the quiz night, and later, whether we would like to purchase some raffle tickets, now thats friendly.

Excellent pub. We stayed here a couple of times and the service, beer, food and accomodation are very good. I highly recommend this excellent welcoming inn.
