Stopped for a beer and a crab sandwich at the weekend. Really friendly service, good (Palmers) beer and a lovely sandwich, all at sensible prices. Can't wait to visit again! sylviajoan - 14 Mar 2016 17:08 |
We didn't try the food but it looked excellent and this is a good place to stop off in the enjoyably unspoilt town of West Bay although it's inevitably a little touristy. Also a good place to break a walk along the sadly eroded South West Coast path. BoehmBawerk - 6 Jul 2014 20:19 |
I'd recommend this place for lunch or a daytime pint.We had our two dogs with us and so ate in the bar area and the staff were friendly and helpful and there was a nice, traditonal, pub atmosphere.Food was quite expensive but good quality and very generous portions. The Palmers beer was good too and a lot cheaper than some places.Previously,we have eaten in The Bridport Arms, which was very poor by comparison.Would definitely have lunch and a pint here again the next time we visit West Bay. jdb1 - 12 Mar 2013 11:56 |
Went into this pub after a recommendation. The bar man (could have been the landlord) very stuck up and seemed very pleased with himself strutting around. Food was very average. Customers were a strange mix of posh chavs, scruffy loud bearded types who looked drugged up and unshaven workmen. The best place I found about this pub was the door on the way out. Or maybe it was just a bad day!! Ivantheterrible - 25 Nov 2010 12:26 |
My friends and I ate here for lunch today. The food was great and the chips, in particular, were superb. Indeed, if you fancy a seaside fish and chips in West Bay, my advice would be to ignore the parade of fish and chip huts and splash out on a plate from the West Bay instead. You could always wrap it up in a newspaper and take it outside if you want to eat it on the beach... They had three different Palmers ales; I only had the Copper, which was lovely. richardgb - 19 Apr 2010 22:11 |
