Fairly unremarkable pub with an emphasis on food (though no one was eating). Reasonable ale selection but not the greatest of pints.

Foody pub, with one real ale available on my visit.

Hard to recall anything significant about this pub apart from two distinguishing features from my visit. The first was for a smallish meal concocted from left over turkey with a handful of potato wedges for which I was charged 6.00; and secondly that there was a huge replica of a champagne glass in which a shapely young blonde lady cavorted about dressed in black stockings and bodice, languidly waving around some fanned feathers. Just for a second I thought I might have stepped into one of those venues I swear to everyone I know I would never venture in, but it eventually it dawned on me this was a one off event arranged as a birthday treat. But for the ales on offer, and the ambience of the pub itself I have to say this distraction dwarfed just about any other impression so I'm unable to award an accurate rating score.

I have been reading the comments about the Court Inn. My family and I use the pub regularly. To me, some of the comments are not recognisable. In my experience, they serve consistently good quality, varied food and there is a very pleasant and friendly service in a clean and inviting environment. The background music is up to date whilst not being intrusive. The great thing about the pub is that it is family run with many quirky and interesting aspects. Keep it up Court Inn - we love our visits!

The Food has gone significantly down hill here. Anything basic like a sandwich and you're fine but why have steaks on a menu if you cant get anyone to cook them? The staff are generally friendly bar one or two who have no communication skills. It also seems a little worrying to see the "cook" sat at the table next to you eating her tea at 6pm on a Sunday. Who is cooking our meal I have just paid 40 for? She was very pleasant though and told us to wait for the happy hour. Nice lady, if what was happening wasnt so strange. I pray the kitchen is nothing like the toilets in The Court Inn. I doubt that is possible though as they would be in serious trouble if that were so. There are nicer places to eat in Durham these days if you look around. Places that have "Chefs" rather than just "Cooks".
