Oddly, despite watching Reading Football Club at the previously adjacent Elm Park for 22 years, I had never set foot in this pub. Bigger than expected, the barmaid offered to replace a dodgy pint without quibble an was very affable. The only issue is the mediocre beer selection which has our friends from Gruner Koenig written all over it.

Not the best pub in the Tilehurst/West Reading area, but generally OK. Good to watch football, occasionally. Often has kids running around, seen a few confrontations between punters and punters/staff. Beer has been hit and miss, sometimes only bottles (Abbot etc.) available.

Pub is fine for a quick pint, but I wouldn't spend the evening there. Credit to the current management for making the effort with quizzes and live music, but I've not been so can't comment on these.

Popped in a couple of times during the day last year and found a really nice pub with a small but decently-served Greedy King range.

Inside is quite plush, has a bar billiards table and comfy chairs.

Will try and get back over there in the evening to see if it really is the Chavalanche that other reviews suggest.

But for now I'll say that I rather like it.
