Found this more hospitable than the other Barton hostelries but there was an extended all encompassing discussion about meat and butchering stuff. beer was reasonable (Oakham Inferno)

On a recent Friday evening at about 8 I tried to enter this pub but I couldn't get in through the door as there were so many people in there. Can't comment any further but they must be doing something right!

Lovely traditional pub. Exceptionally friendly staff. Fantastic sunday lunches but limited times for food during the week. Good selection of beers. Small beer garden. Recommended...

This is potentially an excellent pub but for some reason it remains one of the less popular inns in the village. The bar is a simple and pleasant room, the lounge is an L shape and, I think, not particulalry cosy. The beer is generally well kept and served although it is a Marston's house and guest beers are from a carefully regulated list. The pub has had a succession of landlords, none of whom seem able to make it a real success, a pity as it is a nice little place.
