Great old fashioned pub with a proper atmosphere.

We dropped in here on Friday lunchtime, and everyone, I mean EVERYONE in the garden round the back was munching through their fish and chips from Aldeburgh Fish and Chips next door. Which is great because they don't seem to do much in the way of food, but as long as you buy a drink they're happy for you to do that.
And when we went back in the evening we had a really good crispy pizza from the shack in the garden.

The beer wasn't bad either. Mostly Adnams, naturally (Explorer in our case) but also Purity Ubu which I've grown to like. Nice pub.

Called in briefly midday yesterday, looking for lunch - no food apart from from "filled rolls". Didn't stop, so can't comment on t'beer. Appeared to be a fairly "character-full" place, but nothing to make me feel I'd missed out.

nice enough pub. Some of the customers are from the dark ages.Especially the two old boys on suday night with their gun dogs.Broadside was ok.Not as good as the cross keys.fish & chips good though.

Recent change of landlord has not diminished the beer quality with a good range of Adnams and a couple of interesting guests. Bar staff always friendly enough when I've been there. Not cheap, but that's Aldeburgh for you ! What I would call a proper local pub and always my pub of choice when in Aldeburgh. To be honest I wouldn't go there to eat - fish & chip shop next door very popular.
