| Visited in December 2011. Nice, clean rooms with modern amenities. Better standard than most B&B's I've stayed in. The pub has a great atmosphere and the food is superb. | the clifton is now under new management since 17th january 2011 , and the food and atmosphere of the clifton hotel is vastly improved . so please give the new landlord/landlady a visit and try for yourselves which is what i did and was not dissappointed at all .sunday dinner is a must , but best to book.looking forward to my next meal there . doubletop180 - 14 Mar 2011 16:08 |

| from the time we got here we were seated an waited half hour to be told we had to order at the bar. we ordered 3 large 1 medium and 2 small roast sunday lunches,when they arrived we had been given 2 large and 4 small meal(there was very little difference in sizes)when we took them back we were told that they didn't serve medium size meals and that they would cook some more potatoes for us,they throw some FROZEN roasts into a deep fat fryer and then they put on the table 2 roasts and 2 new potatoes,when we cut into them they were still frozen in the centre. the "fresh vegetables" were still cold,the "well done" beef was still pink in the middle,the yorkshire puddings were still doughy and the gravy was lumpy. after much complaining the management offered us compensation of 1 meal and a round of drinks,which we refused as this is an insult. i have never had such appalling service. as we are locals and keep the pubs and restaurants going through the winter months. needless to say we would not recommend the clifton and would not go back again. cas80 - 22 Aug 2010 16:43 |
