Saw this pub in the press, so had to try it out. Contrary to "oldboots" comment below that puts a negative slant to almost all pubs he has visited. This is a lovely pub with excellent staff. I too had a pint of Jennings as it is quite unusual to find it around here and found it a pleasant pint served at the correct temperature in the correct glassware. Just wondering if "oldboots" Mentioned his issues to the staff? (Does he expect them to taste it before every customer... although amusing, I doubt it would be viable!!!!)

Anyway, as for the food.... it is 1 for a starter, 1 for a main (there are some 2 mains) and 1 for a dessert. There is no OR in this equation.... you can have a three couse meal for three pounds!!! long live the credit crunch I say.

Food was hot, tasty and well presented, much better than expected for 1 a course!!!

Highly recommended!

Popped in one lunchtime following the publicity about the 1 Credit Crunch Menu. I didn't try the food but the sign says "starter, mains or dessert 1" note the OR. No surprises in the decor, traditional pub colours, darkish wood, nice enough carpet, all in good order. No surprises in the beers either, Fosters, Guinness, Cider, Kronenberg plus two handpulls; one with Jennings Bitter, the other with Marstons Pedigree. My Jennings was slightly vinegary, perhaps the barrel end or pipes not pulled through earlier or maybe just not enough turnover, whatever the cause there's no excuse for it . An interesting collection of pump clips above the bar suggests they have had some more exciting ales before, I spotted Brains SA, Tom Woods and Titanic amongst others. A pool table lurks at the back of the main room where a small TV competes with the sound system. Bizarrely the TV was tuned to Dave and was showing the Dragon's Den. Pleasant enough pub, poor beer notwithstanding , staff are friendly and the food definitely cheap.
