This is a really nice pub. A couple of real ales from the West Berkshire brewery and the food and service is excellent. Well worth a visit.

Th Bell is a lovely country pub, in a really nice location. We have just had a wedding reception here on Halloween 2009. It cost a reasonable amount of money paid for by my mother in law. The staff were extremely friendly and polite. All in all we had a night to remember. However, it would be more than fair to state that the landlord (chef) has the potential to ruin an event like a wedding reception. The food was average at best, and his attitude was also poor. For anyone thinking of doing what we have done, I recommend you look elsewhere. I rate the staff and pub 10/10 but because of the landlord it would have to be 1/10. Bad business.

Very odd experience, the pub is trying to be posh and also trendy and young with a big screen with MTV showing. I wouldn't go back there due to the price and quality of the food, 1 x pint shandy = 3.40. Burger = 9.00 on its own? No chips, no salad? I ordered Chips as an extra and was charged 3.35. There was 2 x Dogs in the bar which barked and was off putting while eating. There was a very friendly chap behind the bar but couldnt speak very good english and couldnt answer questions about the menu. The other dish i ordered wasnt what i ordered and they said no we havent got that in?? therefore not fresh and just assumed i would have something else without asking? Im not sure how such a large pub stay's open it must have loyal and local trade. It could be such a great pub the prices are too high.

rogang's view is pretty accurate. Lovely looking little pub, two or three real ales, fine sounding menu. The delivery is a little different though. I went with four colleagues and after putting in our order waited two hours for our food to arrive. The food was nice but for the price and the wait it really wasn't worth it. And there was a dog in the bar which appeared to be owned by the landlady which barked through most of the evening.

Their website paints this an idyllic pub. The surrounds are is no nice, but there is no atmosphere. Tonight we dined alone in the restaurant. the food was very mediocre for an expensive tariff. How often does a prawn and advocado salad (7.00) come with just 3 prawns? They say they cook fresh, and yet they couldn't do a dish with no garlic in it..... Very disappointed
