| I use to love this place back in the old days. However, a few years ago English Heritage bought it; I last went in February '09, on a Saturday evening at 8pm, and found the place empty!!!! The menu, which always use to be excellent, seemed very boring and uninspiring indeed. Consequently, we didn't stay. | We used to visit this country Inn regular but about a year ago we stopped going as the food and general atmosphere went down hill, We decided to re-visit the Abbey Inn again after some friends recommended we go as it is now under new management. What a transformation we were greeted at the door by the manager himself who made us feel extremely welcome showed us to our table and organized our pre dinner drinks wow. the rest of the staff had obviousley been well trained by the same gentelman as they too were extremely professional,the food was good, and so we had a truly enjoyable evening. well done English Heritage for appointing a new manager who has turned this place into something special Gillianpoole - 16 Jul 2008 14:45 |
