| One of Shropshire's best pubs, overlooking Herefordshire and Worcestershire below (it is after all Shropshire's highest pub). Just what a public house should be - a house open to the public serving decent beer and honest food. Staff and locals are a good bunch, and it's the sort of place you can turn up for a meal with the family, a few beers with mates or a quick sandwich and refreshment after a day's hiking in the hills. | Been 5 years since my last review of this place. No change basically: still a great pub in a great location. Beer choice is good too, with Hobsons, Three Tuns and other local ales always available. Friendly landlord and landlady. Opens lunchtimes Wed-Sun, and otherwise open in the evenings. Well priced and good food. | I can't believe there's been no reviews of this place for over two years. The beer is top notch, currently Hobsons (a local brewery) Best, Hobsons Mild and a regular guest beer. Owned and run by a friendly couple, Alan and Sue, who also serve excellent homemade food. As already mentioned, Shropshire's highest pub, so fantastic views. | The Kremlin was the high spot (well, at 1400' or more above sea level it would be!) of a fortnight in and around Ludlow recently. The cider (Rich's) travels from Devon. The ales are brewed perhaps three miles away by Hobson's at Cleobury Mortimer, though they sometimes have a foreign import in the shape of Ludlow Gold, from six miles away. Try to time your visit to coincide with the monthly pensioners' lunch club on a Wednesday when Sue can spread her wings a bit in the kitchen, just because numbers are guaranteed. Never mind the spectacular location: forget the excellent ale. There's a food hero at work here, with almost everything home-made. It's good value, too. | Now in the hands of a pleasant couple who are gradually improving various aspects. Food and ale both excellent, and the location is well worth travelling for. It has great outside space including a play area for children. Accessible by the number 292 bus, as well. joegreen - 4 Aug 2009 13:34 |
