user reviews of the Applecross Inn, Applecross

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Judith & co. run a tight ship here - you must stay over (here or nearby) so's you can have a good drink and meal! Without doubt one of the very best pubs I've been to in the UK (from Wick to the Isles of Scilly and Kent and most places in between - not been to NI yet so can't comment). Their sister place at Lewiston (the Loch Ness Inn near Drumnadrochit) is also worth seeking out and staying at/near.

Stayed here for 3 nights, friendly staff, only 1 ale on draft, others in bottles,
this location is the back end of the world, incredible scenery.

Food was excellent, the fried brekker, kippers, and porridge were all great, wide menu for dinner and lunch. other chpoice for drinking is the walled garden, 1Km away- had a few bottled ales there one night..

located on edge of a loch, B&B rooms were small but well presented.

only pub for miles and miles,
top location as made famous by BBC's monty staying as a crofter a few miles away..
a shame they didnt have more on draft given how busy the place is, but full range of lagers available.

Well served beer and we enjoyed a burger chips and good side salad (a rarity in this part of the world!). Good, friendly service. Would visit again.

Came here following a number of good reviews, but overall not that impressed. Although there were a number of seafood dishes displayed on the menu, most were unavailable, leaving fish and chips as just about the only fish/shellfish dish remaining! Amusing to see a Basil Fawlty clone attempt to take the orders for a party of 15 next to us!

On the plus side the beer is good, the drive to the Applecross peninsula is great, and the views are good, but overall, not quite as good as we'd been led to believe.

please make the effort to go to thiss pub if you're anywhere near the area. it's a hell of a drive over the bealach-na-ba but it's worth it. one of the country's best pubs without a doubt. fabulous food from judith, views to die for, peace and tranquillity. book a room and listen to the waves lap against the shore on a night. if you're lucky they may have local musicians playing too. heaven.
