this is a great pub with very friendly staff. The food is excellent and well worth a visit. There is no pool table anymore, which is a good thing. Families and children are very welcome as there is a new playground for the kids and patio area for the adults. 4 Real Ales, Fine Wine, Beers & Spirits

recently re-visited.
4 cask ales currently offered.
speckled hen, abbot ale, black sheep bitter, tetley cask.
the hen was indeed "a most gratifying ale"!

the meals menu is served everyday 12pm to 9pm, main courses ranging around 6-7. can't vouch for the quality, but the few diners there seemed happy enough. the sweets cabinet also looked very tempting!

to add further comment..
there is ample adjacent parking.
family/games room and outdoor safe play area.
the main interior is split-level with bar area and two lounge-style rooms.
done out in stone, and timber beam.
verdict:
a nice friendly pub, not too roudy.
its not a main-stream pub, so never seems to get too full.
I think the ales are slightly dearer than others nearby, but they always seem to serve the top brands I like, and keep them in tip-top condition.
