Visited on a Monday lunchtime. An attractive pub in a very pleasant setting. The beer was excellent, the staff were friendly and competent, but the food whilst reasonably priced was rather ordinary.
The rib-eye steak was not a very good cut, was undercooked and the garlic butter on it was so strong it obliterated the flavour. A couple of extra veggies on the plate would have been nice rather than one tomato cut in two. The ham salad was generous but the potato salad in it was crunchy! The sweets were good but pricey.
I would like to try it again in the evening but I suspect it is likely to be busy.

What a fantastic pub! Great location and perfect stop off following a beautiful sunday walk. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is delicious. The roast beef was the best I have ever had and I was able to order a half portion which was handy. This left loads of room for starter and pudding. Thanks to all the team for making my day.

This was always a pleasant country pub. We hear it changed hands about 3 months ago and it seems better than ever. We visited at lunchtime midweek. Good Brakspear's bitter and a vast array of bar snacks and tapas. There's a restaurant too which we haven't tried. Service is friendly and the situation- rural, quiet, great garden is near perfect. Only tricky thing might be *finding* the pub. Worth the effort!

Under new management after a disastrous gap in ownership. A perfect country setting and a lovely old building.
