user reviews of the Railway, Emsworth

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Emsworth must be a safe place. Mainly because most of the crims are in here of a weekend. Pretty much what you'd expect from the exterior: bland, rough and best avoided.

7 P.M. on a Saturday night and this place in a sleepy South coast town requires THREE bouncers on the door ?

Been done up now and nowhere near as bad as before. Landlord seemed a nice chap and let us in when the doors had supposedly closed for the evening, but still open for another couple of hours (bizarre ruling they have in the town)

Locals were welcoming, no hint of mither, considerably better that teh last time we came down 12 months ago.

Bar staff were excellent as well. Worth a visit !

Gone drastically downhill since range of ales were withdrawn, lager loutes and loud music guarenteed

The only crap pub of the four I visited on my first trip to Emsworth. The sign outside proclaims The Railway to be a Free House but the sad truth it that only the ubiquitous Greene King IPA is available. There are a further three hand pumps but they don't appear to have been used in a long time and now serve a decorative purpose only.

There was also a faint air of menace about the place which was disquieting.

Toilets were pretty minging as well.
