Called in after 3 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon, the bar was full of a friendly shooting party. Food wasn't being served due to the time (3 to 5 being no food times) but there was Doom Bar and Flack Catcher on the handles - my Doom Bar was the best of this ale that I'd tasted.
A list of weekday food offers was on the table we eventually found, last visit here was some years ago, but passing by lately I'd noticed that there were more cars in the car park so more reasonable food prices seems to draw in the customers

Stopped here while doing a walk round Romsey. It has a pleasant exterior, with all the flowers in full bloom in the sunshine, but was very quiet when we went in. It was midday on a Thursday, so hardly peak time. The interior is olde worlde, but a little tired looking, and as per usual most of the tables were laid out for eating. Didn't have anything to eat, but had a nice half of 'Flack Catcher'. The pub seems to suffer from the fact that there is a more popular inn just up the road, 'The Malt House', which also does cheaper meals. Will visit again though.

Called in here for lunch with the missus. The standard food menu is pretty uninspiring but the specials board had some brilliant fish dishes. Combined with the beer this was a slightly expensive but very good lunchtime experience.

Nipped in here recently. The ales change regularly and all the other standard draughts are available of course. Again this is a pub that could be so much better than it actually is. Whoever is running the place shows very little interest and no imagination. Its become a 'nothing' pub. The menu is slightly expensive and completely lacks ambition. Still, it gets a 5/10 from me, with a 'must try harder' comment.
