user reviews of the Cheviot Hotel, Bellingham

Nice pub to sit outside on a hot summers day. It became a bit of a youth club at one point, thankfully not for too long. Beers were mainly pale/blonde/ambers in the 3.8-4.5% areas. Two from Hadrian and Borders, one from Wylam and one from High House Farm. All in good nick, but lacking in difference from one another. Service friendly.

Still a pleasant hotel bar with locals and walkers. 4 real ales, one national and 3 locals including Toon Broon from Firebrick,Red Kite from Wylam and bitter from High House.

Visited in late June. Typical pleasant country hotel bar - we sat outside so I can't really comment further on the interior. Beer was in excellent condition but too cold (why is it that the further north you go, the colder the beer is served?). Definitely above average, overall.

Three ales including a very drinkable Scottish Borders Game Bird. Good food served by pleasant staff. The landlady sought reassurance that we were happy with what we were given. A buzzing place and we made a point of returning later in the evening when we realised that it is the best pub in the town.

We didn't actually get as far as having a drink in this pub - the sign outside advertised 'real ales' but when asked, the barmaid said they didn't have any available so unfortunately we didn't loiter!
