I was in the Hook area for a couple of days and visited a few restaurant/pubs. Be warned that you need a bundle of cash to afford to drink in the Hook area even though there isn't much too like about the area.

I pay 2.80 a pint for London Pride in Haselmere, I couldn't believe the 3.70 a pint it cost in the Lord Derby but I was warned the place was pricey. The food and ambience was mediocre and basic and the service slow even though the place was nearly empty. I won't be going back.

Visited the pub this tuesday evening, staff very friendly and large inviting menu, although the pub was busy we were well looked after and had pleasant service throughout. Food was excellent and very good value. My partner enjoyed his pint of IPA said it was a very fresh. A very enjoyable evening will definatly be back for a return visit.

I went for a lunch with 6 family members and the pub was reasonably busy but most people were eating their main course when we arrived.
We all order, sat down and waited for about half an hour. I then went to chase the food up and was told because 3 of us had ordered the cottage pie it would take longer for the food to be served, it would have been nice to have been told us when ordering!!
Got the food finally and found the mash on the cottage pie to have mustard in it and the meat be very salty. I approached the manager and was far from impressed how she handled this matter. She did however take one of the cottage pies of the bill but seemed removed from the situation.
Ive eaten in the pub several times before, and was very disappointed with this visit .
Due to the amount of good pubs serving good food around the area Ill be eating elsewhere for a while. Shame a smile and a sincere apology would have sorted out the problem.

Yes, the food is good if rather pricey. Yes, the waiting staff are first class, smiling and attentive. The meals were served within 30 minutes although the pub was full of evening diners. However, if I am to pay 3.10 for a pint of Pendle Witch, I would actually like a reasonably full pint. After two attempts to top it up, it was still half an inch short with a lot of beer wasted. Otherwise, a pleasant experience.
