The Bear Hotel is a nice looking building from the outside. But it is primarily a hotel and the interior is very bland and uninspiring. Although there may have been other rooms I didn't try. There is a small courtyard at the back, which seemed quite popular with families. A wedding reception appeared to be taking place somewhere in the hotel. The car park is clearly in high demand. The £10 cost for it seemed a bit excessive. Ales are from Wadworth - IPA, 6X & Swordfish. Service from the young barmaids was good. But compared with the other pubs in the town, this was the worst I visited.

Grand old market town hotel with some very nice features. There's a bar at the front and lounge and dining facilities towards the rear. It really is a landmark in the town. Wadworth's beer which we found to be in very good condition (the IPA was much better than I've had in other Waddie's pubs). Bus stops are just nearby and the Bear is definitely worth a visit.

New Chef who has 'upgraded' the menu and binned the old popular favourites to the detriment of choice. Prices to match of course! Beer is also no longer well kept. Managers son thinks he is Gods gift to bar management and is universally loathed by the normally very competent staff. Gents toilets flood when it rains. Log fires kept alive by customers as a rule as logs are rationed ! Lounge bar populated by strange escapees from care homes, or at least should be in one.

Excellent traditional hotel with two large bars - hard to get a seat in either on Market day (Thursday) at 1130 am. Coffees and teas were being drunk by the patrons at this time, is this a meeting place for visitors to the market? Efficient and speedy service from the staff who were all smartly dressed. My 6X was good, but the Farmers Glory (seasonal ale, see Wadworth website) was most enjoyable. Bar snacks were also also availble and looked good. Worth a return visit!

The usual Wadworths range, what more do you expect in Devizes?! I had a Horizon, its an average beer. Nice pub though. everyone seemed okay, 7 out of ten.
