user reviews of the Angel Inn, Holmesfield

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Avoid at all costs. The food is not the standard that they charge you and we had an incident whereby the food had not arrived for absolutely ages, despite us having seen people who ordered after us receiving their food first. When this was mentioned, not much was done. There is a better pub across the road! Plus, the staff are not particularly nice. In fact, I found the lady in charge to be unpleasant and unwelcoming.

A Mothers' Day trip here proved very disappointing. 17.95 was far too high for a very average, poorly prepared 3 course meal. My starter, Chicken Caesar Salad, had a few pieces of chicken amid some elderly lettuce leaves. The roast beef in the main course was overdone and the vegetables had had all taste boiled out of them. Desserts weren't bad though I noticed the women in our party did not finish their chocolate desserts (which is a first!). The pub decor is dowdy & depressing. Members of our party who visited the Ladies' loo said it was scruffy with broken fittings. However, the waitresses were attentive and the service was prompt. Will never go back there, though.
