The Albion - Phipps Brewery Tap is also on Bridge Street. Although it looks the part the ales (brewed on site) were not up to scratch though Snarling_Mallard - 2 Sep 2018 00:52 |
Enjoying the pub's 'Beers from the Coast' festival over the May Day Bank Holiday - over 30 beers from coastal breweries, plus various ciders. Excellent Palmers, Skinners and Branscombe Vale offerings. Good food too on our visit - lovely fish supper tied in with the Festival (2 courses for £10 !) JJWalks - 29 Apr 2017 18:12 |

Truly wonderful Oakham festival on when walked in after football. Some old favourites, all on top form. pwilkins - 3 Nov 2014 12:04 |
After a disappointing visit to the town's museum, (which is the worst I have ever had the misfortune to visit), I persuaded the the lady wife that finding this pub might prevent our day out from being a total disaster and, joy of joys it did! From the outside it is an unassuming building but inside it is full of fascinating brewriana and a thousand times more interesting than the so-called museum. The service was friendly and with fourteen handpumps, each serving a small brewery's product, we were spoiled for choice. The beer was excellent and although we only had time for one we would love to go back. Well done The Malt Shovel, at least one place Northampton can be proud of. doctorpint - 16 Aug 2014 19:35 |
