Simply stunning building. Must visit.

Inside was just as good - exactly how you would want a bar to be.

Beers were excellent. I went for Loweswater Gold, having enjoyed it in various locations in the Lakes over the week.

A memorable visit, Blogged at http://bit.ly/2qTcrAT

My 2nd pub to tick in Coniston and what a stunning building this is topped only by the view from the terrace.

The bar is part of the much larger Sun hotel complex.

On the bar are 8 hand pumps with 8 ales from the local area. The pint of Hawkshead Windermere Pale @ 3.5% I had was lovely.

Quite busy at 6pm with a group of locals at the bar chatting about all things beer. The rest of the punters were sat on the terrace or in the garden.

A good selection of ales kept & served well in a 400 year old building within a stunning backdrop of the local area.

The Sun is on my to return to list as 1 pint and only 30 minutes isn't enough time here.

Nice big boozer, full of tired souls rubbing legs and wounds after a trip up the hills. Good place to recuperate after getting a battering off the Old Man.

Lovely pub with a fair size beer garden set in a beautiful area. Excellent choice of ales, I went for my personal fav, Loweswater Gold from Cumbrian Legendary Ales.

I do like to pop in here on a late afternoon after doing the Old Man or Wetherlam or mountain biking over on the North Face trail in Grizedale. It seems the best and quietest time to go, get a pint and sit on the rear patio dissecting the days action whilst looking at the Lakeland vista surrounding the pub. The beers are always in good nick, with Copper Dragon Golden Pippin a particular favourite. We have stayed for the first food orders a couple of times too and have never been disappointed. It has lost a bit of character since it's refurb a couple of years ago, but still remains a welcoming establishment.
