I stayed at The Bull as a friend was getting married close by. I found the place to be a wonderful example of what an old village pub should be. The bar was cosy and inviting with a real log fire and a delicious glass of cold white wine. I booked to stay overnight (despite a previous poor review) and what a lovely room I had. Full of old world charm, with a big comfy bed, sumptuous linen and pillows and wonderful antique furniture with a nice 'worn in' feel. The couple that now run the pub were very friendly and accomodating. I was staying there alone and they made me feel very welcome and safe, plus serving a delicious breakfast & fresh coffee. If you're looking for new age chic, double glazing and heated floor tiles in the bathroom, then this is not the place to visit. However if you want a roomy traditional B&B, with the odd creaking floor board, a homely feel and reasonable prices, then I advice definately checking this place out.

I can see where the previous reviewes are coming from, when they mention neglect. But I found this place quite homely. It was almost as if you were walking into somebody's front room. Pot plants were overgrown, windowsills were cluttered with all sorts of parephernalia and one table to the rear of the bar looked a right mess. But this simply added to the character. Service was friendly. I was driving and therefore had anapple juice produced locally in the village. However, three real ales were available - Westerham British Bulldog, Harveys Best Bitter and Sharps Doom Bar. I felt quite at home here. Parking was very difficult as there was an event on in the church nextdoor. The Hungarian tourists sat at the bar seemed as if they'd been over-endulging on the hospitality. Nice pub in a good location that I would quite happily go back to.

An overpowering smell permeating the entire premises- somewhere between mouldy chip fat, wet dog and stinking socks.
Bedroom floors were covered with dirt and detritus and had clearly not been hoovered for months. Thick dust adorned all surfaces.
My sink plug hole was not draining, on closer inspection a think wad of long hair, gunge and muck was extracted, causing me to wretch violently and involuntarily.
On descending from my room to the pub the following morning, congealed plates were still on the table from our revolting meal the night before. There was still a plate of chips, on the bar when we checked out even later- fully 14 hours after they first appeared on our table.
I exited the pub via the side door and found myself in an alley- this defied description. There were hundreds of cigarette butts all over the floor, open rubbish bags with accessible food debris, stagnant pools of fetid water, sodden clothing, (a mattress I think?!) and sundry other items.

Not a bad place for a pint, but has the feeling that it has been somewhat neglected eg couldn't read the pub name because of the overgrown foliage. Good beer, though, comfortable enough and friendly locals in a lovely village.

Had a fabulous meal last night. Food was delicious and the portions very generous. Service was with a smile.
