Great place. It's very popular in the surrounding area as a result of it's good food. It is more of a restaurant than a pub as there isn't really any area to just nip in for a swift pint, and it does get busy, especially at weekends. I've eaten here a few times, and once the dish I had was rather salty (a Thai curry I seem to recall), but generally it's of a good standard. The menu is mainly pub-grub stalwarts like your fish and chips or pie, plus a few more interesting dishes. The medaillons of lamb are rather good. Beer is good as they usually have (I think) a couple of good real ales on, and well kept

I visited this pub on sunday(6th july 2008) & was very pleased with my visit from start to finsh which considering sum venus around lately was a pleasent change.I was greated by a very warm smile by the lady on the bar & having ordered my drinks took a sip of my pint of bitter which was perfectly pulled & tasted just as good & was by a brewery called Cains of liverpool who i had not really heard of but what pint.I then went to a small reception desk were i was met by a bubbly lady who made us feel right at home which was a great start.I was shown to our table & presenbted with our menus & after looking through a wide selection decided to go with a traditional roast which i had lamb & i can state that the entire meal was fresh & cooked to perfection. The desert board was a fantastic selection of puds & i ellected for the orange merangue pie which was heavenly.I would like to THANK the staff & managment on making our visit so fantastic.I will be visiting again very soon(next week)
