please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Friendly Landlord, lively atmosphere but filthy, ripped furnishings and an undercurrent of mortal danger.

I agree with you about the external decor, primarily because i personally always judge a pub by the way it looks from the outside before venturing in, but i have to admit, last year i parked up by the small parade of shops nearby, went in and was pleasently surprised to see a few middle aged gentleman watching the cricket on one of there numerous t'vs, so i promptly sat down and joined them and was made to feel extremely welcome, needless to say i required the services of the local cab service to ferry me back home, but overall a pleasent pub, albeit a midweek afternoon.

This pub predominantly serves the Woodlands Estate, due to it's proximity I would class it as my "local". It serves your everyday lager at reasonable cost but does do very good pub food at impressive prices. As with all the pubs in the area the owners need to step outside metaphorically and physically and take a look at itself. It does nothing to attract new people, it is definitely not inviting.

The outside is covered in broken glass, weeds and knackered cars, this does not look attractive. Those that frequent the place it choose to park their vans and cars anywhere on the pavement/gravel area, there is no structured/designated parking to discourage this and this results in it just looking untidy and, might I add, very difficult to drive past especially as its on a bend and the 291 always seems to come though at the same time! They make a good effort with flower baskets outside and it looks much better now it's not purple!

England matches result in immense hooligan-esque England flags being draped across large parts of the pub exterior, inside I can understand but outside makes it look like a den for thugs no matter how proud you may be of your country.

Inside is reasonable, the beer garden is acceptable, could do with a bit of upkeep though. Despite the above I think this pub is actually alright but as with everywhere around Plumstead Common there are many more people that would frequent the pubs and bring (much needed?) money if they improved their image a bit. Surely that is what landlords want?
