I came across this pub one evening while out walking during a short stay in the area. It looked a bit rough but we were thirsty and so gave it a go. The friendly couple who are now running the place made me and my wife very welcome. They're in the process of getting it into shape for the brewery, and I presume have replaced the manager mentioned by jh007. At the moment they've just started tidying the place up so that it's quite cosy inside, and - equally as importantly! - sorting the beer out. My Spitfire tasted good and should improve even further once the they've finished. From comments below, this may mark the transformation of this pub back to what it was a few years back.

Don't bother going here at the moment!! The pub is under temporary management, awaiting being taken over. I don't know where they found the manager though... if there was anyone less suited to running a pub, it is this man! Rude, abrupt and totally unwelcoming - we were the only customers in on a sunny Saturday afternoon, when usually there are walkers, locals etc in, and we soon found out why! One quick drink was enough for us! Shame, because recently the food had been good, and the atmosphere comfortable. Well, at least it can only get better from here!

The beer range is boring and typical but not bad if it's all there is to choose from, I didn't eat, there was an atmosphere that I found off putting.

Two words: Shepherd Neame!

Was once THE pub of the area. Standards have slipped somewhat these days but you can still get a fairly decent pint in there. Haven't eaten so no comment.

Another favorite! Got a little seaside hideaway nearby, which we like to get down to now and then. The ship is normally the first stop after the long drive down. One thing i do so miss up in the fens, is the lack of 'Boom. Can't be doing with 'Boom in tins.

Anyway, great little boozer, nice and friendly. Will be down there later in the year.
