Things have changed a little here. The cask ales have been taken over by Little Critters brewery - all six of them. This is a brave move and I hope it works out as it means there is a range of styles rather than just a bunch of pale ales from various breweries that you often see these days. Was puzzled the cricket wasn't on - perhaps it was lunch or there was no interest from the punters. It is just ok, though. Not sure how I would make it great, mind

Visited for the first time last night and will definitely go back to this no-nonsense, good value lively pub. A wide range of cask ales were all (apparently according to my colleagues) well kept.

Judging by the exterior (no time to vist and sample), this pub is in fact seeing far better days *today* than in the past (30+ years ago) from what I recall of it then; also NB: it has been expanded.

Plain locals pub which has seen better days but the range of about 5 ales more than made up for it. In GBG so worthy of support.

Decent enough pub, with reasonable varied ale selection which changes weekly. Monday night is 50p off all Ale... so with the standard price being low as it is, this means if you're lucky you can end up with a 1.50 pint! Never empty, but agree with comments below that it can on some nights become overcrowded. A good all rounder.
