I just want to say a year has passed and the highwayman is now a beefeater with a fantastic grilled menu.
Ive been informed the pub is still open every day even though there are immense building works going on next to it, the start of a 26 bedroom premier inn opening for business feb 09.

please dont be put off by this, you cant hear, see or smell any of it inside, i highly recommend you go visit and try the bbq ribs, their better than damons!!

We stoped by this pub yesterday as weve always enjoyed it. It is no longer a brewsters and is now overly pretentious in my opinion.
There were only 4 dishes to choose from and none of them sounded particularly appetising. The main problem I had was the price, starting at 14 for a sunday lunch. Whilst money isnt exactly short I cannot justify spending that kind of money when the Wheatsheaf down the road serves excellent food for 2 thirds of the price. We had an overpriced drink and promptly left for the Wheatsheaf.

In summary, very nice interior but restrictive menu and overpriced, I suspect this was reflected in the fact that the pub was almost empty.

THIS PUB IS NO LONGER A BREWSTERS AND IS NOW ONLY LOOSELY CONNECTED TO WHITBREAD.
IT NOW STANDS AS A GASTRO STYLE PUB CALLED C.P.D
COUNTRY PUB AND DINING SERVING FRESH HOT AND COLD LOCAL PRODUCE NO PING DING
I RATE IT 10/10
THE FOOD AND SERVICE IS OF TOP QUALITY.
CHILLDREN ARE WELCOME ALTHOUGH THE PLAY AREA IS NO LONGER AVALIBLE.
A PREMIER TRAVEL INN IS DOWN TO BE BUILT LATER NEXT YEAR WITH PLANNING PERMISSION PASSED.
ALL IN ALL I FIND THIS SITE A MASSIVE UP LIFT IN THE WAY FOOD IS SERVED AND RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!

Nice dcor, plentiful parking, lovely views.
Pretentious yet promising menu did not live up to the bland food served.
Would not personally visit again

This is a drive-past appearance review!
The Highwayman has very recently undergone what looks like a complete overhaul. No longer part of the Brewster chain and therefore Brewster Bear is no longer resident.
The front of the Pub has been cleared of it's foliage and now has a very clean white stone exterior look, no trees or bushes (but it is winter!). Also, lots more new seating outside to the left.
Not sure if open for business yet, I will take a closer look tomorrow.
