Modern, mostly open-plan Wetherspoon-like drinking hall with 90s piped music. Black Sheep Milk Stout, Wainwright and Jennings Cumberland were the 3 ales on sale on Saturday afternoon. Quite busy but too characterless for me. paul_d102 - 15 Nov 2021 20:45 |
A smart spacious bar with friendly welcoming staff. Lots of tables set up for diners but with plenty of room for drinkers and customers of both types were well in evidence. Ales on were York Brewery Guzzler and All Seeing Rye with the guest beer being Pennine Brewery Rocket Fuel, a 4.3% very tasty golden ale at £3.00 and well worth it. My visit was a lunchtime stop whilst I was passing through but I would happily visit again if and when in the area. yellowfever - 6 Nov 2015 18:27 |
This pub has just been reopened after a long 2 year total refurbisment, the interior has been changed to create more space in the bar areas, nice decor and good atmosphere, we had a guided tour of the newly built letting rooms, 11 in total, very nice, There is now a resturant which we have not tried yet, but did look very nice too. probably now one of the nicest pubs in Barnard Castle. starbuckhouse - 19 May 2013 20:52 |

What could be a reasonable pub sadly dominated by big-screen TV and overly loud music. Excellent value food, good size portions for under 5 but unfortunately no real ale available on my visit. [visited 28/02/09, lunchtime] strephon - 8 Mar 2009 19:46 |
