| Stone's throw from The Oak, and, if you believe the old barfly I got stuck talking to, the busiest pub in the village - if we'd turned up earlier/on a Friday night/at the weekend, etc. Homely in a similar way the The Rothschild Arms (disappointly, not listed on BITE), but cleaner and neater as if pride had gone into its upkeep. Doom Bar or London Pride on tap – the former was the second-best pint I'd had all night after The Chandos and cheapest of the night at £3.10. | I was here early last Saturday afternoon and the good news is that this pub is still standing. Shame is I was the only customer as this is a cracking little boozer. Very comfortable interior. Large plasma screen showing Sheff Wed. v Leed U match. They also have a snooker room and dart board. 4 hand pulls but only two in use 1 for Greene King IPA and the other for Sharps Doom Bar. | It seems Ray Kindel is determined to knock this loveley old pub down, he has applied, yet again, to AVDC, to demolish it and build 2 houses. | Good news .... the Planning Inspectorate have refused the owner, Ray Kindel's appeal to demolish the pub and build houses. It may stay a pub yet! ..... Lets hope, if he does not want to run it as a pub anymore, he will now sell it to someone who does. economist - 2 Sep 2011 14:26 |
