A largish Greene King pub with an impressive dark wood interior around a central bar. Seating is plentiful and comfortable with a mixture of high and low chairs.

It was very quiet when I went in mid-afternoon so a little difficult to gauge what it would be like when more crowded in the evening.

Ales on offer are some of GK's standards - GKIPA, Abbot Ale, Royal London, Old Speckled Hen and St Edmunds and one of their seasonal ales - Rocking Rudolph mixed with a couple of guests - on my visit these were Wickwar Rite Flanker and York Brewery Autumn Kiss.

This is a good pub and the ale range good so if you are in the area it is worth calling in

Used to go quite regularly when they had the pool tables downstairs but since they got rid of them I haven't been in quite a while. Deceptively small upstairs (from what I can remember) but a decent area downstairs. Wouldn't be adverse to going back in here if I was looking for a pub in the area.

Fast becoming a regular Friday haunt. A good summer pub as you can stand in the service road outside and enjoy the sunshine. I expect that a wet Friday in December will be less exciting.

Usual range of GK beers with a guest - like Gann it was Evs Tiger this week.

Agree with several of the previous postings. This is a good City drinking pub. Can�t really improve on the description given by Millay below except to say that there is a decent downstairs seating area with quite a few tables. Although on my early evening visit this was empty as most people were taking advantage of the decent weather to have an outside pint.
Seven real ale hand pumps dotted around the central bar which on my visit included IPA, Abbot, Ruddles, Old Speckled Hen from the GK stable and Everards Tiger as the guest.

In an update to my previous posting, this pub seems to have gone downhill over the last few weeks. When we arrived, we waited far too long to be served, considering that the pub was almost empty. The beer was up to its usual standard, but when the food arrived, one meal (mine) was missing. It appeared a good ten minutes after everyone else had finished, at which point the waiter was given an alternative serving suggestion. Admittedly, the price of the meal was refunded without quibble and the staff were very attentive from that point on. There have been a few instances lately where the food has not been up to scratch, late or wrong. In short, the beer is still good but eat somewhere else.
