Nice family run pub with friendly staff and great food! We had a selection of the pies on offer which is every Wednesday and we would definitely visit again and recommend this pub to our friends marry27 - 1 Nov 2012 20:02 |
After being a loyal customer for many years, going to the New Year party and eating breakfast at The Ship regularly (see my review 2 Oct 2011), I was extremely disappointed to be told last Saturday by John the owner "tell your boyfriend to leave a good review or he's barred". And surprisingly not a joke. Apparently John and Basia thought that my partner (of 8 years who they have met on many occassions and who was with me for breakfast) had left a bad review on some review site - they based this on the reviewer having the same first name. Apology? Sadly not. Upsetting treatment from the owner and staff. This pub will no longer receive any recommendation from me or receive any further custom. JimmyR_UK - 15 Oct 2012 08:52 |
Gotta say this pub goes from strength to strength, food is quite simply the best in the area by a country mile and now the owners have invested even more money back into the business, last year they refurbed the kitchen and laid a new oak floor throughout the pub and now this year they've invested more money into the garden providing a very swish outside space with gorgeous rattan furniture. Service is always pleasant with friendly staff and good shepherd neame beers. For a London pub on the banks of the river Thames prices are very reasonable. Glad to count this pub as one of my local haunts. Keep up the good work guys!!! savvy_blank - 7 Aug 2012 09:50 |
i m glad i dont have a pub like this on my doorstep.. My wife would never see me and my doctor would show me pictures of damaged livers... Great atmosphere , food and a solid pint of Spitfire with a clean full head.. It must be so hard making a go of a neighbourhood pub these days , especially one tucked away off the main routes.. there are great walks to be had around the river and docks in this area and I recommend this as the top pick for stops. Sadly they are nt open mid week lunchtimes - except Fridays in the summer.. Great food and friendly staff flowingeasily - 7 Feb 2012 17:13 |
Shepherd Neame pub not far away from the banks of the Thames. Spitfire & Kent's Best were the only 2 ales on my Tuesday afternoon visit. Prices were quite steep. The interior is large and open planned with candles on each table. The staff were friendly enough, but there were very few customers. Found nothing particularly special about this place, but it was handy for a quick pit stop whilst walking along the river. blue_scrumpy - 29 Dec 2011 22:43 |
