Now closed, and has become a Japanese restaurant. No loss to the Eastbourne pub scene!

well just as i suppected i went back kicking and screaming and it hasnt changed the food still takes far to long and the service is just well i cant even speak for that. i mean the place is a joke and would do well to be either shut down and re opened by people who new what they were doing or shut down for good. seemed to notice it wasnt open on a saturday night any more shame!!!

I've been a regular breakfast/lunch customer at Chelsea Corner since they opened and find it a very friendly place with fast and courteous service. The breakfasts - served all day - are cooked to order and are very good value. For lunch there are several specials as well as made to order sandwiches and toasted panninis. The place is fully licensed and also serves freshly brewed coffee. The owner is the chef most days and cooks in full view of customers, always a good thing in my opinion. The restaurant isn't open in the evening however there is live music in the cellar bar Thurs-Sat.

i think the general look of the place is nice and the food isnt that bad although when i have been in the service isnt great and thats when its not busy during the week, and the food was cold. but i think ive been in on a saturday when its busy and i would never go in again as we waited almost 30 mins to even get our drinks. and the chef seems to shout behind there alot which isnt good in an open kitchen. and we all felt quite sorry for the boy in the back. the atmoshpere isnt bad but ive been to better places where when you ask for something on the menu thats what you actually get. overall i wouldnt recommend this to a friend as i think its not very well ran.

Following the much awaited opening of The Chelsea Corner we decided to support a local business and took the plunge to dine with them. The ambience was lovely, the service exceptional and the food fantastic. The only thing that let the place down was the music (far too loud and of disco type). I did express our views to the waitress who was very diplomatic and said she would address the situation.

As yet, we haven't been back, however, close friends of ours have visited during the daytime (on recommendation) and have reported quite a different story. One friend ordered a cooked breakfast and could only descibe it as " a complete mess" the other having asked for two options and being told that both were unavailable, decided not to eat.

Not sure what to make of this place. Would definitely like to sample the food again in the evening due to OUR experience (particularly the moules which were exceptional and the fact that the Chef clearly knew his stuff) but will most probably pass on the lunchtime menu!
