This pub is now closed. There was a bloke changing the locks when I called there yesterday. It may reopen but there were pub chain banners being displayed. Be warned!

More restaurant than pub, there is a small bar but you wouldn't go there for an evening's drinking. Menu was expensive but the food was very good (there's a special 'roasts' type menu on Sundays). On pump was Harveys Sussex and Bath ales 'Gem', a beer I've not had before but it turned out to be rather nice.

We arrived mob-handed, 10 cyclists from the Central London CTC, at 1 o'clock on a Sunday. Though we had not booked as we do normally for our lunch stop, we could not have been accommodated with greater civility. A big log fire was burning brightly, and the food was pretty good, not cheap but nowhere in this area is. Very welcoming and thoroughly recommended.

Had lunch here with three friends for a Birthday celebration and was surprised at other comments (which nearly put us off going) New owners have made great improvements to the pub fabric and the dining. Food was very good indeed with a good selection of wines, the salmon fusilli was amongst the best I have ever had. the service was good if a little slow but then we were on a time limit to visit a local historic house and when we asked for coffee to come a little quicker it did. Well worth a visit.

We recently ate in the pub's restaurant to celebrate my Wife's Birthday. We will not be returning!

The food was overpriced for what it was. The potato skin starter was ONE HALF of a potato skin!
The food didn't live up to its description (bland tasting), and mine was only just warm enough to prevent a complaint.
They got one person's food order wrong, so she had to site there whilst everyone else ate.

To be fair, some of the food was good, but that should be the case for all of it.

We were the only people there on a Fiday evening. The staff could have at least attempted to help create a party atmosphere. If they had lit the log fire on this cold evening it would have helped.

As it was a Birthday, no one wanted to spoil the event (further) by complaining.

All in all a very disappointing evening.
