Just moved to the area and have tried out a few of the local pubs. But one has stood out as the best and the Jersey Lily is top of my list. Popped in on a evening to be greeted by a very cheerful barman (or owner), and was the best welcome i had all day. Very proud of his ales and helpful with tasters, i had a Great pint of Adnams Southwold bitter 10/10. Nice atmosphere around the bar with the landlord chatting to everyone and making them laugh.
A PROPER PUB

Popped into this pub on Saturday night for a quick drink and rethink having walked the length of Whiteladies Road and been unable to find anywhere to eat ( everywhere we tried was fully booked). The new landlord was very friendly and the beer was good, three cask ales to choose from plus the usual array of lagers, three ales is ample in this size of pub. The kitchen in the Jersey Lily is only open at lunchtime so the landlord made a few phone calls for us but he also drew a blank. Solution - fish and chips from the award winning fish and chip shop opposite brought back to the pub with the landlords blessing, he even provided plates and cutlery! This is a lovely little pub 5 minutes from The Downs, this new landlord should do well in this establishment, I recommend you try it.

Only two beers on when I walked in on saturday afternoon , tribute, and theakstons lightfoot, reasonably priced at 3 a pint, but I have to say the quality of the Beer was poor.
No atmosphere at all in this pub.
As I await my PM, not worth a second visit based on this performance.

loving the banter between mousefan & jellytot...
tending to side with mousefan though.
Good luck to the next tenant, the old/existing one evidently had a struggle.

Hello Jellytot76, my one-posting friend!
1. The For Sale sign wasn't up when I visited, although I've seen it since.
2. Agree Sky expensive, but it does get the punters in. Hopefully it'll be back.
3. Agree better than Wetherspoons. Most things are.
4. The street market closes at 2.00 pm. (I should know, I work on it) I was in at about 12.30 pm. Agree some of the customers are of the knit-your-own-muesli variety but plenty of them are normal and might fancy a lunchtime pint.
In conclusion (please note the spelling), I always saw this site as somewhere where we could just leave our own impressions of pubs we use. I didn't think it was necessary to go in with a questionnaire and clipboard and interrogate the staff. I hope this pub does well under the new management and will carry on using it when in the area.
