Now boarded up, presumably the nail in its coffin was the closure of the road outside for months on end to do with laying a new sewer.

A few weeks ago my predicted problem happened! The Black Sheep went off when we called in for food on a Sunday afternoon. I said I'd wait while they changed it but they'd none left, so no cask ales at all.

We therefore walked up to the Duke William in Ainsworth, nearer than you think at about a 10-15 mins walk away.

A shame, as otherwise this is a nice pub.

Well kept Black Sheep, although my worry would be if this went off as there are no other handpumps or alternative nearby pubs!

The pub is deceptively spacious and pleasantly furnished.

Not tried the food... yet!

I work here at the Red Bridge, and I enjoy it loads, especially on the bar. Recently, the Bolton News awarded our pub 4*, 4* and 5* for variety, surroundings and food quality respectively, which we're very proud of. We serve food between 12-3 and 5-8.30 on weekdays, 12-3 and 5-9.30 on Fridays and 12-9.30 on Saturdays. Our Sunday lunches are served on Sunday between 12 and 8 along with our other menu choices (no jacket potatoes or sandwiches). We hope you'll enjoy it!
