This pub has certainly changed over the years. Its still a good pub although is totally food orientated, but I guess, other than letting rooms, its the only way to make money. There's no money in beer thats for sure!!

I tried a Doom Bar and it was spot on. The barmaid is quite a looker as well. It's worth the visit just to look at her!!!! LOL!!!!

Great halfway stop on the way down to Devon for the family and only a couple of minutes off the A303.

Fantastic terrace and childrens play area, they even have shetland ponies and alpacas in the garden for the kids!! Food is superb and the also have Estrella (Spanish) on tap which I have never seen in this country.

Disagree with below as all staff were impeccably presented, prompt and extremely helpful.

This was a fantastic pub when run by the Simpkins in the 60s and 70s.
Visited recently "for old times sake" and what a change for the worse! Grubby, disinterested staff, indifferent (and expensive) beer. Its true what they say.....You can't go back!!

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Hunters Lodge. We must have stayed at a different pub because the staff went out of their way to be helpful, the food was fantastic, excellent menu and choice. Superb location, nearby to Longleat and Stonehenge. They are in the process of building a briliant childrens play area and have alpacas in the garden which the children will love, we will return if ever in the area!
