The pub interior is certainly unique, it looks like an old theatre of some sort. It's a big room of a pub with a larger open space on one side of the horseshoe shaped bar, and a smaller space with a pool table and telly on the other. Warning to anyone who doesn't like Manchester United, there's a fair bit of memorabilia dedicated to them.
As a pub it is nice, very locally with the barman using profanity towards his punts, nothing that bothers me. The prices are the best in this area as well. They also show The Chase, not much more you can ask for!

A survivor, all pubs in Salford were once like this, there were hundreds of them, sadly now mostly gone.

This was the last of the Salford pubs we ventured into on our crawl back in August. A Holts pub, so wasn't expecting great things on the ale front, despite the promise of guest ales in addition to the Holts range.

Five pumps were on, we went for a pint of ITI New Zealand Pale Ale, which I have since discovered is by Hawkshead Brewery.

Despite its location it felt strangely like an estate pub on our Saturday night visit, with a DJ on and couples of a certain age sat in silence next to each other. Perhaps wouldn't rush to go back, but another one ticked off the list, and no issue with the pint I had.

Like many tourists my only experience of Salford has been the gaudy Quays area. This year I ventured a bit further & found this lively old boozer near the railway station. Populated entirely by men of a certain age, all chatting loudly about football, horses & other blokey stuff. Polite service from a friendly bar man & a fairly decent pint of Holt's Bitter (2.50). Probably best left to the locals, but if I was one I'd be happy with it.

When I used to work at the nearby Peninsula Business Services this used to be a firm favourite both for a pub lunch and a couple before being squashed on the train home! The chicken curry half rice half chips was excellent and good value too! OK so its a Holt's pub but they do brew a cracking dark beer called 6xs in a bottle 6%!
