I am confused .... Could you have gone to the wrong pub?
I arrived and parked around the back of the pub. Went past the smoking area. This was covered thank goodness. It was also heated and this makes a big difference if you smoke like I do. I entered via the back door and as was mentioned before it had lovely original oak beam ceilings and a hearty fire burning in the fireplace by some nice soft chairs. I went to the bar and got a warm welcome from the staff. It felt a very friendly and welcoming place. I got my drink and took a seat. Soon after the barmaid offered to bring me over on another one and was very friendly and chatty.

Perhaps you got the staff on a bad day, we all have them!

All in all I enjoyed my visit. They have pool, Jukebox, Live sky sports and nice staff. When I pass that way again I will be stopping by that's for sure. What a lovely classic English pub.

Was going to visit this pub on Saturday with my family when the EXTREMELY rude owners/staff stared at us getting out of our car. When I asked what the problem was they said that we weren't allowed to leave our car in their car park unless we were using the pub (which was obvious by the 'patrons only' signs all over the car park). This was before we'd even made our way towards the front of their pub! This really got under my skin and as a result we went somewhere else.

So if you like rude staff not wanting you in their pub then this is the place for you! How this place makes any money is beyond me.

On the edge of the town/village centre, an old pub with beams etc and pool table, sky sports but no proper ale. A pretty unremarkable pub no real reason to come back.
